Torre del Lago
|
The Lake Puccini Tower is located not far from the city of Viareggio, between the northern shores of lake Massaciuccoli, the coast and the Apuane Alps. The village took its name from an ancient tower that has now completely disappeared, and the Italian composer Giaccomo Puccini, who lived in the area for years and whose villa has now been turned into a museum.
The main road that crosses Torre del Lago is the Tigli avenue. The main tourist attractions are the sandy beaches and the sea, but visitors also enjoy trips out to the Massaciuccoli Lake.
In the Summer, Torre del Lago hosts the “Puccini Festival”, and the area comes alive with celebrations and shows.
