This small versilian hamlet the birthplace of Giosué Carducci, and home to the few members of his family who chose to remain in Valdicastello in the years following his birth. The most important monument is the church of San Giovanni and Santa Felicita. The numerous “marginette”, religious figurines sculpted of marble, are indicative of times when religion was a central part of versilian society.
Other important religious buildings include the 19th century Parish of Santa Maria Assunta and San Giuseppe, the little church dedicated to Santa Maria, and the sanctuary of the Madonna del Pizzetto, which is located a 15-minute walk away from the town centre.
