VILLA BORBONE DELLE PIANORE
Villa Borbone delle Pianore Villa Borbone delle Pianore
A luxurious and historic abode, villa Borbone delle Pianore is surrounded by an 19th century park which stretches over 5 hectors of land and was designed by famous architect Dechamps. The park is overflowing with rare and exotic plants. The villa is composed of three buildings erected in different eras. The 18th century villa of Maria Teresa di Savoia, Duchess of Lucca, is the oldest of the three and was formerly a mill, which later acquired a chapel. The southern most building, named the Duca Roberto Palace, is formed of three floors and is decorated on the outside in the renaissance style, with curved gables and ashlars, and with a lacunar ceiling, stucco, damask and marble polychromatic décor on the inside. It dates back to the 19th century and was commissioned by the Duke and Duchess of Lucca to celebrate the wedding of one of their daughters. The northern most building dates back to 1964 and has since been turned into a secondary school.
