PALACES OF CAMAIORE
Villa Borbone delle Pianore Villa Borbone delle Pianore
Over the years, the centre of Camaiore has been adorned with numerous historical palaces. Piazza San Bernardino, situated next to the bell tower, boasts the headquarters of the Lucca Cassa di Risparmio, the Palazzo di Vicario. Via XX Setiembre gives onto both the Palazzo Papini, which has housed the Prioria since 1966, and the Municipal Palace, with it’s three tiered façade. The Tori Massoni Palace, which dates back the 16th and 17th centuries and features a surmounted doorway with large windows on two floors, houses the Archeological Museum of Camaiore.
The Olivo Theatre is also worth a special mention. Built in the 16th century, it is the oldest theatre in Versilia and was founded by the Accademia dei Deboli. It is situated next to the church of San Vincenzo and was restructured and extended in 1649, 1772 and in 1920, when it was redecorated by the painter Domenico Ghiselli.
